Flood zones and evacuation zones are different in Sarasota County

A FEMA flood zone describes mapped flood hazard for the National Flood Insurance Program. An evacuation zone is an emergency-planning area used for evacuation decisions. The labels, boundaries, source maps and update schedules differ. Check the address in FEMA's Flood Map Service Center for effective map information and use Sarasota County Emergency Management for evacuation zones and instructions. Local permitting authorities determine applicable floodplain development requirements. This draft does not return address-specific flood or evacuation results.
