StartFL
Terms of Service
These terms explain the ground rules for using StartFL. They are written for normal residents, businesses, contractors, and government-information users.
Effective date: September 1, 2026. Last updated: September 1, 2026.
Acceptance
By accessing or using StartFL, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What StartFL provides
StartFL is an independent informational and government-navigation service. It is not a Florida, county, municipal, or federal government agency, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by one. StartFL does not create an attorney-client, accountant-client, contractor-client, architect-client, engineer-client, or other professional relationship.
StartFL’s information is not legal, tax, engineering, architectural, zoning, permitting, licensing, or other professional advice. Laws, rules, fees, forms, office procedures, zoning requirements, deadlines, agency interpretations, and online systems can change. Verify material decisions with the responsible government authority and, when appropriate, an appropriately licensed professional.
StartFL does not guarantee permits, licenses, approvals, inspections, zoning determinations, benefits, registrations, or any other government outcome. When StartFL links to an official source, the responsible agency and that source remain authoritative. Government and other third-party websites are outside StartFL’s control.
Acceptable use
You may use StartFL only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not interfere with other people’s use of the service. You must not:
- abuse, overload, or intentionally disrupt the service or its underlying systems;
- attempt to bypass access controls, probe or security-test the service without authorization, or seek another user’s private records;
- scrape or automate requests in a way that harms availability, defeats rate limits, or creates unreasonable cost; or
- impersonate StartFL, a government agency, another person, or another organization.
Intellectual property
StartFL’s branding, original site design, software, and original editorial content belong to StartFL or its licensors and may not be copied, modified, or presented as your own without permission. Government laws, rules, forms, records, and other public materials are not claimed as StartFL intellectual property. Third-party names, marks, and linked content belong to their respective owners.
Disclaimers
StartFL is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, StartFL disclaims warranties that the service or its information will be uninterrupted, complete, current, error-free, secure, or suitable for a particular purpose. The service is a navigation aid, not a substitute for an official determination, filing, inspection, or professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, StartFL and the people and entities involved in operating it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities, arising from or related to your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited or waived.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify StartFL and its operators from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of another person’s rights.
Changes and availability
StartFL may change, suspend, or discontinue features or content, and may update these terms as the service develops. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law and general terms
Florida law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless a known legal requirement requires otherwise. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect and the provision will be enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law.
