Fire and life-safety review can be a separate authority layer from building permitting. Commercial construction, changes of occupancy, fire alarm or sprinkler work, assembly uses, tents, and some special events can require review or inspection by the serving fire authority. Pinellas has multiple municipal and fire-district jurisdictions, so StartFL should resolve the location before naming the fire reviewer. The County's special-events guide covers unincorporated Pinellas County and/or events on county-owned property; it identifies Development Review Services for tent permits, except county park road closures, and says applicants are responsible for meeting applicable federal, city, or state requirements. An event permit or building permit does not automatically substitute for required fire approval.
