Pinellas docks, seawalls, dredge and fill, and marine permitting

Applies to: countywide

Flagged source reviewed 2026-10-15. How we check sources

Docks, seawalls, riprap, boat lifts, marinas, dredging, and filling in Pinellas waters can require a County Water and Navigation permit in addition to state or federal authorization. The County reviews navigation and environmental impacts across municipal boundaries. Depending on the work, Florida DEP submerged-lands or Environmental Resource Permit requirements and U.S. Army Corps authorization may also apply. Waterfront feasibility should therefore identify all applicable layers rather than treating a municipal building permit as the only approval.
