Rooftop and other residential photovoltaic systems in the County BDRS service area use the residential Solar permit type. Applications require the applicable structural and electrical plans and product information, and the work must be inspected. Solar is not automatically covered by the small-work permit exemption because electrical and structural work are excluded from that exemption. When replacing a roof with solar panels installed, both solar and roof permits are required.
