The County Tax Collector requires a Local Business Tax Receipt for selling merchandise or services, subject to stated exemptions. It is additional to municipal and state requirements and does not authorize a prohibited use. For a commercial premises in unincorporated County obtain PZB zoning approval. Within a municipality use its zoning approval and local business tax process before the County application. The County guidance exempts an unincorporated home business from zoning approval except storage and landscaping businesses; other use and state restrictions still matter. Gather fictitious name registration when applicable, relevant state or County licenses, the premises address and zoning documentation, then use the Tax Collector application. Check occupancy, construction and fire approvals before opening.
