Miami-Dade sewer capacity certification for development

Applies to: countywide

Source references checked 2026-10-01. How we check sources

Certain construction and changes of use that increase wastewater discharge require a Miami-Dade Sewer Capacity Certification before building permit issuance. County guidance gives examples such as new houses, added restaurant seats and higher-intensity uses. The certification is tied to system capacity and has filing and expiration rules, so a property being served by sewer does not by itself prove capacity for a proposed project.
