Inside the City of Miami, Chapter 36 of the City Code controls noise rather than treating the Miami-Dade County rule as the only answer. The City prohibits loud, unnecessary, excessive, or unusual noise, and amplified music or similar sound that is plainly audible 100 feet from the source can establish a violation under the city code. Business establishments also have a nighttime music rule from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. unless the music is inside a closed building and is not audible outside in a way that disturbs residences. Special districts, special events, construction, and other noise sources can have additional rules, so StartFL should identify the specific noise type instead of presenting one blanket citywide decibel limit. City of Miami Code Compliance accepts noise complaints at (305) 416-2087 during normal business hours, through 311, and through its published after-hours hotline at (786) 457-0995. unverified
