Miami-Dade allows one accessory unit on qualifying single-family lots in specified zoning districts inside the Urban Development Boundary, subject to County zoning, lot size, size, location, parking, design and Certificate of Use requirements. County guidance states the owner must obtain the ADU Certificate of Use and renew it. The County also offers a pre-approved ADU Blueprint program, but the selected design still requires site-specific zoning and permitting review. These County standards do not establish the rule inside an incorporated municipality; municipal zoning must be checked separately.
