Jolley Trolley: Clearwater Beach and the Coastal Route

Applies to: clearwater · Verified 2026-08-29

The Jolley Trolley is a nonprofit trolley service that operates in north Pinellas County in partnership with PSTA. Its routes appear alongside PSTA's own trolleys on psta.net, and passes are interchangeable with the countywide bus system, so it functions as part of the regular transit network even though a separate organization runs the vehicles.

Routes

The Jolley Trolley runs two kinds of public service, 7 days a week, 365 days a year:

  • Clearwater Beach routes: a North Beach route serving the area north of Causeway Boulevard and a South Beach route running from Bay Park through central Clearwater Beach, both connecting through downtown Clearwater.
  • The Coastal route: starts at the Clearwater Beach Marina and heads north up the coast through downtown Dunedin and Palm Harbor to the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks.

Downtown Clearwater, Dunedin's craft breweries, Honeymoon Island connections, and the Sponge Docks make the Coastal route popular with visitors, but it is regular public transit that residents use for everyday trips.

Fares as of 2026-08-29

Fares match PSTA's structure: $2.25 for a regular one way ride and $1.10 reduced for seniors 65 and older, riders with disabilities (with ID), and Pinellas County students. Children 8 and under ride free. On board, one way fares are cash only with exact change. Unlimited daily passes are no longer sold on the trolley itself; instead, contactless payment and group passes are supported through the Flamingo Fares app, and PSTA passes work across the system. For pass questions call the PSTA InfoLine at 727-540-1900. Guests at several Clearwater Beach hotels (Sandpearl, Opal Sands, Sheraton Sand Key, Marriott Sand Key, and TradeWinds) ride free by showing a room key card. unverified

The Jolley Trolley also runs separate paid sightseeing and event tours (haunted tours, brew crawls) that are booked online and priced differently from regular public routes.
